SummaryFelshin describes her adolescent and young adult years as well as the dynamics of her family. Felshin explains that she has been very open about being a lesbian throughout her life and has been involved in activism for gay and lesbian rights for many years. Upon completing her bachelor's degree in PE from Sargent College, she went on to get her master's in PE from Wellesley College before moving to California with her partner and obtaining her Ph.D. in education and PE. Before receiving her 25 year position at Stroudsburg, Delshin taught at the University of Nevada, Reno and Ohio State University. Felshin describes how throughout her years of work in academia, she experienced discrimination because of her sexual orientation, overcame that discrinination and worked dligently to bring awareness to those around her both regarding sexual orientation and, more generally, women in sports. Early in the feminist movement, Felshin identified herself as "radical."
